How an insurance company analysed business performance across locations using interactive reports

Background

Our client was one of the world’s largest insurance companies with offices around the globe. In order to keep track of their business operations at different locations, the team had to create and compare reports of performance in each location.

Challenges

Tracking and reporting the information gathered from the client’s various locations was a data-intensive and challenging task.

The reports contained a vast amount of complex data, making the results difficult to interpret.

The creation of the reports involved manual organisation of information which was time-consuming and not an efficient use of resources

The margin for error was very high as a result of the manual nature of data processing

The team also developed a drill down report using
Pivot Table to summarize the data.

The hierarchy for the drill down report was

Region => Branch => Policy

To elaborate further, one single drill down report
would initially display revenue region wise. On drilling in each region, the report would display details of that particular region. Further drilling would display details of that branch.

Our team of experts used a Power BI report to unify data from the multiple locations and create an interactive report that used the map visualization to display the income location wise.

Outcome

The report creation process was completely re-organized to meet the client’s specific needs. The result was clear and accurate reports that helped users to compare business performance by region/location and upon analysing that data, improve business strategies in underachieving locations and make informed decisions to align with company goals.
